Description

Regilded in burnished gold leaf. Each with oval backs with a carved beaded frame, carved arms with scroll hand hold, leaf carved seat rail with paterae, raised on circular tapered fluted legs. Beautifully upholstered in creme colored leather. From the estate of Martin Trust. Known for; Father of the apparel industry in Sri Lanka. These chairs are from a set of six sold by Christies in London 18th of November 1982, the property of Mrs.I.D Darnton. Iris Dorie Darnton of Sissinghurst Court in Kent who was a famous ornithologist who has a bird species named after her.
