Description

Victorian burr walnut and bronze mounted kidney shaped desk by Gillows. What appears to be the original green leather top and 3/4 gilt bronze gallery and conforming crossbanded edge with bronze edge over a conforming case section with a central drawer with lock signed J.T Needs, 128 Piccadilly and J. Bramah, 124 Piccadilly flanked by drawers, pedestal section with three drawers on each side and with lockside doors with central lock, the back with shelving within the case, plinth base with bronze trim. Similar example with lock by Needs pictured in “Gillows of Lancaster and London” by Susan Stuart volume 1 page 339. Estate of Mrs C. Douglas Dillon.  In good condition.  The leather is very worn. It can be replaced for an additional cost.
